New Year, New Binder!

So much for relaxing!
I'm sure a lot of you are thinking that, as you work on your "to do" lists this summer.

Organizing is my faaaaavorite part of a new year! So, of course, the first thing I chose to work on this summer is a new, editable binder!

My classroom theme is rainbow, and chevron is sooo fun, so I went with that for this binder. I love the binder I had last year, but I got tired of looking at the same thing every day! It is always fun to have something new!

There are many different ways a teacher can choose to organize his/her binder. Last year I had all of my sections in one, very large, binder. This year, I chose to separate them into smaller sections. I have 5 main binders this year! I know I will like having a smaller binder with me when I go to meetings, or when I take my binder home to work on my plans. Each binder cover comes in all 6 rainbow colors, so you can choose which colors you want to use. The same color options are available in the spines.

I just love knowing that my shelf will even look nice because of the cute spines! Changing the colors according to each binder also helps with my organization. I can grab the binder I need quickly once I get used which binder is which color. Wait...I sound so lazy! I can't even take the time to read the label? Haha!! I hope I am not the only teacher who feels THAT rushed before a meeting!

In the main section of my binder, I have the calendar pages. There are calendar pages for each month. This is a Power Point document, so you can add text boxes wherever you would like to add text. You will be able to use this year after year!

The Student info. section is the section I find myself using the most! (Well, other than the grade book!) I love this section because the student info. forms that come with this pack keep everything I need really organized. I can flip to the page I need really quickly!
The Substitute section is one I hope I don't have to use! However, you just never know! In this section, the sub will find everything he/she needs to know about how to run your day. You can include your own, personal touches like a seating chart or dress code form. There is also a divider created for you to leave emergency sub plans. We all know that sometimes something can come up and you may not be able to leave
in-depth sub plans! This might come in handy for times like those.
All sections and colors come in blank form, as well! This way, you can add your own dividers as you may need them. Although, I hope I thought of everything for you! Also, you can create a cover page with your name on it, or a fun page for the back of your binder. There are also blank spines in each color. Because I know that some of you, like me, are OCD very organized, I have also included pages on "ways to get organized" with this binder, as well as a whole page on where to download this great free font I used throughout the whole binder! This way, you can make your new dividers look exactly like the rest of the binder! We want everything to be consistent, right!?

Alright...time for my usual, new product giveaway!

Leave a comment to let me know what you are up to this summer and I will pick TWO random people to send this binder to! :) Remember to leave your e-mail so that I can send it to you! I can't wait to hear what all of you are up to! I hope you are relaxing!

Winner's chosen!! Keep checking back as we get closer to August because I just might be doing this again.... ;)

You can get this binder HERE at my TpT store!

  15. This is so cute! I came across it on Pinterest and am so excited to have found your blog. I just recently got hired as a 2nd grade teacher starting in August, and it will be my first year teaching in a mainstream class (I'm coming from a small group special education private school), so I am spending the summer catching up and planning for all the changes. This would be one less thing that I have to make, and it's way cuter than what I would have come up with!

  16. Love! Love! Love it! I'm so glad I found your blog. I've been reading thru it all day today. :) So far I've spent my summer preparing for my 2nd little one who actually arrived this past Thursday. Instead of nesting and organizing the house...I nested and organized my lesson plans from this past year...oh the teacher life. :)

It's funny, I was actually trying to design some binder covers & spines but they aren't nearly as cute or colorful as these! I am setting my classroom up in less than a week in my new school because they are doing construction and we aren't going to be allowed in~ ahhhh!!! The rest of the summer I'm playing with my baby boy who is about to turn one and always keeps me laughing!
Enjoy your summer, thanks again for your hard work! Is it going to be posted in TPT?

  77. I love your binders! Organization is always a goal of mine and I tried my hand at a binder last year but between a new state, new school, and new standards (my husband is military and we moved states) it didn't work out as well as I had hoped so this would be perfect!
My summer started out exciting since my husband returned from a deployment in Afghanistan and we moved into our first home the day he did. Since then it's just been unpacking and getting settled in with a visit from my parents who live in Florida. Next month we're getting to take our honeymoon (2 years later) to Vegas so we're thrilled for that!
I expect to spend the last part of summer getting ready for school and trying to prep some things for my classroom at home since we can't get in during the summer.
